I had enjoyed using moulding paste in Assignment Two and I thought it would be interesting to work with to created moulded surfaces. I tried 3 samples: On synthetic fabric, with lace and using a stamp onto bondaweb. The paste was coloured with Brusho.
None of the samples was particularly interesting. The paste wasn’t firm enough to hold the impression of the stamp, the fabric didn’t hold the texture and the paste was absorbed too readily into the lace, leaving it flat.
For this exercise I chose two images from my sketchbook and earlier work, the spiral and the woven square; Spirals Acetate stencils I cut stencils from acetate sheet and plasticized paper, retaining both the positive and negative stencil pieces.
